A STYLING SESSION WITH ALLISON BORNSTEIN
Allison Bornstein might have just cured my little winter depression and made me fall back in love with the feeling of fashion. Here are my favorite looks from sixty minutes with my favorite stylist.
I went a bit MIA on Substack for the past two weeks, mainly because life got in the way and I was too busy fighting off the winter fatigue everyone seems to be feeling right now.
With the colder weather not only came the very strong desire to never leave the house again but also to never wear anything other than a fluffy bathrobe and matching fluffy slippers.
I had scheduled my appointment with Allison in September and I just need to thank my past self for doing this. If I had thought about booking it in November or December, chances are I wouldn’t have done it. I just felt very overwhelmed with my wardrobe and very … angry at it. Then again, I just gave up any hope of creating any useful outfit ever again.
So when this weekend and the entry in my calendar that said ‘Allison Bornstein on Monday’ rolled around, I couldn’t decide if I was looking forward to it or wanted to scream at my wardrobe once more. Because I honestly felt like I had nothing to work with. In my head while making the appointment, I thought by December, I had figured out my style and had filled my wardrobe with pieces I really loved that were fun to style. That hadn’t happened (and I know this will probably never happen).
The minute I closed my work laptop and set up my phone in an angle that showed my entire wardrobe this afternoon, the excitement kicked in.
I just really love clothes and I love the emotions they give you and Allison had already done her magic on me in 2021, I knew she would do it again.
And she didn’t disappoint. So please sit back and enjoy my rambling on the looks we created in 5-pm-in-Germany-and-it’s-dark-outside-light.
