I genuinely look forward to Style Notes with my whole heart. You know that saying, “you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone”? That’s exactly how I felt experiencing this little break. Back with a bang...loved it. So glad the writer’s block has been kicked to the curb. I missed your work!!!

Traci, that truly means a lot. I'm also happy to be back and be more inspired. Also missed your sense of humor and can't wait to find more time to read my favorite Substacks like yours! x

Omg, I had a girl crush on Jo without even knowing who she was during this past FW. She would walk into every show in the most understated, coolest outfits imaginable and it was only thanks to a subscriber's comment that I finally learned her name! This was excellent. Bookmarked and saved for eternal style inspo. We missed you ❤️

So cool you noticed her style before you knew who she was! She will be my eternal fashion crush for sure! Thank you, and I missed Substack and you guys! x

Also: such a relief that she admits there’s actually a lot of effort behind her outfits to achieve that effortless-looking result.

Right?! It's absolutely okay to put in the effort!

Thanks for yet another new inspiration source and podcast recommendation! I'm curious - do you mainly watch or listen to yours?

Such a good question, Ewelina! I do listen to a lot of podcasts on walks but when I’m cleaning or cooking I’ll always watch the video version - you? I for instance found this interview with Jo Ellison so much better in the video version! x

I'm just watching the YouTube version while doing admin wfh :)

Omg this has to be my favorite thing I read all week! Hold my coffee, on my way to listen to the episode 🏃‍♀️

I adore Jo's style, and she is FUNNY! I subscribe to FT weekend basically because of her and voratiously read her pieces - they're never forced, but always sharp- it's also reflected in her personal style. There's never a dissonance there, and I love that

Okay now I'm thinking about a FT subscription, too! Let me know what you think of the podcast interview, Indre! So glad you liked this Style Notes post x

Loved this Style Notes Anika - Jo Ellison is my new style inspiration unlocked! I agree that there are many worse things to think of than fashion and also that when days are tough, wearing something you love can help.

Thanks, Tina! I second that! x

I’ve seen clips of this interview on my insta and now I’ll definitely listen to the episode. It’s always so refreshing hearing someone who is stylish and successful not being “too cool” to own how fun fashion can be.

You should!! Yes, she's 100% herself and I love people with great self-irony! x

I love this so much! My post today is about working women as muse and I think there may be something in the air about functionality. Clothes start to feel empty if they’re only good to look at; it’s in the wearing them for ourselves and our own lives that the clothes have a real energy. I love this post so much and it’s given me lots of ideas. It’s ok to think about clothes a lot! It’s not only ok it’s maybe even great to include your real life in your actual fashion! Who cares about being overdressed or underdressed as long as you feel right in your outfit? What a great person to write about. I really enjoyed this

Thank you so much, Danielle - I'm so happy this post resonated and gave you new ideas. That's exactly what is my intention behind Style Notes. Love the idea of the energy of clothes, too! x
