SUNDAY UPDATE #33
Leopard flats, an Indyx styling party, and wearing only two pairs of pants over the course of the entire week.
This post is too long for e-mail. Please enjoy on the Substack website or via the Substack app. Thanks!
There are many things I like about living in Germany. One thing is you’ll get great fashion-weather. What I mean by that is that it doesn’t get too hot or too cold and you have long periods of coat-weather (which is my favorite).
What is kind of weird is that, like this week, you’ll sometimes expect summer weather and have to deal with fall weather instead. I can imagine it is hard for summer lovers but great if you, like me, are the proud owner of seven trench coats.
THIS WEEK IN NUMBERS AND WORDS
FASHION CRISIS: 2!
1. I have two weddings this summer and I can’t find a dress. They are either too frilly, too flowery or too colorful. And I think both weddings are going to be really amazing so I want to do the event itself and the people getting married justice.I wanted to wear my trench coat on Saturday, and I did but somehow my brain now says it looks too classy with ballet flats. I know, problems.
ITEMS SOLD: 2 - I sold an older pair of H&M sunglasses and a really old waistcoat that didn’t have a purpose in my wardrobe anymore.
ITEMS BOUGHT: 0, I ordered these leopard flats but they were too big (and also, sorry, I think they’re only available in Germany).
I ordered them via ‘Click & Collect’ (a German way to say ‘luxury customer service’) at Breuninger which is basically a cooler version of Selfridge’s. I love to go there and pick up pieces - you can try them on behind their customer counter, and I love the store. Whenever you’re in Hamburg, Stuttgart or Dusseldorf, you need to go!
ITEMS ADDED TO WISHLIST: 0
FASHION MOOD: I have found a style tribe on Substack?! I’ve had so many great conversations over the last week with readers and other writers and one super-exciting FaceTime call (hint!). One highlight of the week was definitely a little spontaneous Indyx styling party we did (see below).
FASHION THOUGHTS: Like I mentioned, German summer is non-existent this year, so we’re enjoying my trench coat and leather jacket collection over here (which is good!). I do need loafers to have an in-between shoe for this, though.
WHAT I WORE LAST WEEK
TUESDAY
Monday was a WFH day and I wore an unspectular combination out of a white basic shirt and black denim. Tuesday is normally a packed office day and this Tuesday was a surprisingly warm summer day - so I went for my favorite ‘office waistcoat’.
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday was office day 2/4 and it was a bit chilly in the morning. I wanted to wear my suede blazer so I paired this with a simple all-black outfit.

THURSDAY
Office day 3/4 meant third day in a row with a 5.30 am wake-up call! It was rainy and cold and I had five meetings that were important to me (yep), so I went for a classy shoe and a blazer underneath the trench coat. I can’t work in a casual outfit.

I rushed home (‘rushed’ means expanding my lunch break to 90 minutes and taking the train home) in between meetings and managed to drop off some Vinted parcels before having another (Substack-related!!! Aaaah!) FaceTime call in the evening.

FRIDAY
Friday was office day 4/4 but I didn’t have any too important meetings. Again, the temperature was cruel in the morning and okay after lunch. The leather bomber jacket is so soft and I needed something that felt like I was taking my blanket from bed to the train station in the morning.

SATURDAY
Saturday started with my body telling me that we should wake up at 5.30 am on the weekend, too. Because we’d done it all week. Makes sense, huh?
I made myself a cup of coffee, watched one episode of ‘Ginny & Georgia’, went to the gym and did my grocery shopping. After that, I went into town to try on said leopard flats. I wore this to the occasion:

SLOWLY GETTING INTO INDYX OR: WE HAD A STYLING PARTY ON FRIDAY
After writing about how I am not disciplined enough to keep up with my Indyx app, I slowly start to like it.
I signed up for an Insider membership mainly to have outfit options ready when I don’t know what to wear. Plus, I slowly started to realize how much documenting your outfits daily helps. You can follow me here.
On Friday, I tried to keep my evening free (my next two weeks are packed) and I didn’t have plans. So I started to style some people I am following via the Indyx social styling tool. I started with
and then made my way through my ‘following’ list. Then, I posted a note about it.That escalated quickly and turned into a little fun party.
, and joined and I couldn’t stop sending looks. I switched off my phone around midnight and went to bed happily. and also styled some looks for me - and left very sweet notes!FASHION MOOD IN ONE PICTURE
You can’t even wear white denim in this rainy weather atm, so I scanned my screenshots from last fall and found this functional yet aesthetic campaign picture - practical trench and practical tote, undone hair and minimal make-up?
Right up my street this week!
Happy weekend, everyone!
Im wearing one of my looks today 😆 love it!
ok obsessed with “fashion weather” and these looks!!!
