Indyx is one of the hypes within the personal-style-enthusiasts-club I would like to join but I only managed to track one month. Here is my Indyx pro and con list - I would love to hear your thoughts.
It does take time to document your wardrobe on Indyx, but I agree that it makes it look like a store, thus so inspiring to shop your own wardrobe! It has a selfie option to record outfits so you may prefer that. I found it really useful to plan my outfits for holiday, then using it as a packing checklist.
Thanks, Alyson, thought about using the selfie option, too! And yes, I have used it in May for packing which has been amazing. Maybe I just need to ‘force’ myself to upload my items and then see the benefits again. xx
I came here to mention the selfie option. Honestly Whering offered a better option where you could calendar view with your selfies which I liked for personalizing my clothes.
I love Indyx! While I agree it’s not a substitute for trying on clothes, for me it’s been helpful to see where true holes are in my wardrobe. I think this only came after spending a weekend documenting EVERYTHING 🫠🫠
Yes, I think you have to make the effort and then get the rewards for it. Do you track your outfits everyday now? Have you noticed any other advantages besides seeing missing pieces? xx
I have to confess, I'm not inclined to go in for these 'track what you wear' apps in general - it feels too much like being harried to optimise an experience of my wardrobe when I prefer to be spontaneous or at least a little emotionally led, and the app-ification alone can be very off-putting. I really don't want my phone to dress me, I'd rather just take a picture or write what I'm wearing in a journal, but I can see how it could be useful to anyone who actively wants to see data on what they wear.
Thanks for this recap! I'm getting ready to jump on the Indyx train to see if it helps me buy less + be more thoughtful with my wardrobe. I'm excited about the analysis side of it to figure out cost per wear.
I LOVE Indyx personally! I got to beta test the Insider version and I now have the annual plan and it’s worth it for me. I am still not done cataloging my wardrobe (it’s taken me forever since I’m picky about how things look and prefer the online, professional flat lays!) but I’ve gotten so much use out of it. I’m not a numbers person either, but it’s eye-opening to track cost per wear and make smarter investments into my closet moving forward. Capsule wardrobes and packing lists have been a breeze, and I truly do enjoy jumping into others closets for inspiration. The Indyx community is also just fantastic—the private Insider Slack channel is filled with so many wonderful, creative people who inspire and hold me accountable to uploading outfits and spending less! I’m much less likely to “fall off the wagon” because of them. I’m not sure if you were aware, but you can see a Selfie-only calendar view vs. the flat lay outfit images you create if that’s more your speed. I love that it has a feature to remove the background of all your photos/selfies embedded within the user interface. I am not normally an app person, but this has really changed the game for me!
Thanks for your insights! Love that you’re saying the community is great, that always makes an app better! And thanks for mentioning the selfie option, might give it a try! xx
I am also not a data person, and also subsequently forgot to update Clue, but I am loving Indyx! I just find it fun? Yes, it is hell uploading absolutely everything but I find the pay of to be worth it, I’m more considered with my purchase now and will opt for secondhand first now. The analytics and selfies calendar have so useful to see cost per wear as it’s done for me, and to see how my outfits wear on myself. I also roughly plan my outfits ahead of the week, so I just see uploading to Indyx as extension of that. Packing for holidays and creating collections for seasons has also been very useful 😊
Thanks, Cassie! Had to smile when I read you also didn't update Clue. A lot of people were actually commenting and mentioning the selfie option and also highlighting the benefits on packing with Indyx. I need to find a routine with it, I guess.

Not sure if you were aware, but that’s a feature in the new Indyx update! 😊 selfie-only calendar view
EEP!! Tell me how to do this?!
Check out their site and IG! Lots of great info and posts. This one gives a preview https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_wT8thyWM_/?igsh=MTE0bnlsenhucXM3eg==

Thanks for reading, Lily! My wardrobe is something emotional for me, too, and I understand your thoughts. I guess it depends on what speaks to you! xx

Yees, cost per wear is something you cannot just guess from your memory of wearing or not wearing things! So helpful!
